Bitcoin Lightning Network on WhiteBIT: Faster BTC Deposits and Withdrawals

Bitcoin transactions on WhiteBIT are getting faster. Our exchange now supports Lightning Transactions, allowing users to deposit and withdraw BTC via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
Lightning provides an additional way to move Bitcoin between the exchange and compatible external wallets or platforms, with transactions typically processed much faster than standard on-chain Bitcoin transfers.
This means more flexibility when funding an account, withdrawing BTC, or moving Bitcoin between services that support Lightning.

What is the Bitcoin Lightning Network?
It is a payment protocol built on top of the Bitcoin network. It is designed to enable faster transactions without requiring every individual transfer to be recorded immediately on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Instead, Lightning transactions take place through payment channels between participants. Multiple transactions can be processed through these channels, while the underlying Bitcoin network remains the final settlement layer.
This approach makes Lightning particularly suitable for frequent and smaller-value BTC transactions, where transaction speed and efficiency can be especially important.
What are Lightning transactions on WhiteBIT?
With the new functionality, our exchange users can choose the Lightning Network as an alternative to the standard Bitcoin network when depositing or withdrawing BTC.
The main difference is the way the transaction is processed. Standard BTC transfers are recorded directly on the Bitcoin blockchain and depend on network confirmations. Lightning transactions are processed through Bitcoin’s layer 2, enabling instant payments.
As a result, users can choose between Lightning and on-chain transfers based on wallet compatibility, transaction amount, fees, and required processing time.
Lightning transaction fees and limits on WhiteBIT
The following fees apply to BTC transactions made through the Lightning Network:
| Transaction | Fee |
| BTC deposit via Lightning | 0.25% |
| BTC withdrawal via Lightning | 0.15% |
These fees apply specifically to Lightning Transactions and differ from the conditions for standard on-chain BTC deposits and withdrawals.
Limits for deposits and withdrawals look like this:
| Min | Max | |
| Deposits | 0,0001 BTC | 0,06 BTC |
| Withdrawals | 0,0001 BTC | 0,06 BTC |
